How it works

How Lite Tuition works

A simple, debt-free way for a student to raise money for their education. Here is the whole flow, start to finish.

01

A student creates a campaign

For free, they give it a title and a goal, then add their story and a photo. It takes about ten minutes.

02

Our team reviews it

A real person reads every campaign before its page goes live. Students hear back within 48 hours.

03

Their community gives

Family and friends give securely through PayPal, and supporters can choose to cover the fees so the full gift counts.

04

Funds go to the school

Money is sent to the student's school, in care of the student, toward tuition and school costs. Never cash in hand, and never a loan.

A resource, not a program

Built to help the students you guide

There is nothing for your school to run. It is a tool counselors can share, students can start on their own, and parents can start for a child, including at tuition-based pre-K through 12 schools.

A resource to share

For guidance counselors

  • Free to share, with nothing for your school to set up, host, or administer.
  • A real option for students facing a tuition gap, alongside scholarships and financial aid.
  • Point students to it in counseling sessions, at financial-aid nights, and in college-readiness workshops.
  • Safe by design: every campaign is reviewed before it goes live, can be kept public or private, and money goes to the school, never the student directly.
  • Tuition-based schools can offer it to students and parents looking for help with the cost of attending, too.
How it helps

For students seeking higher education

  • A debt-free way to raise for tuition, fees, books, on-campus housing, and lab or technology fees.
  • A place to tell their story and rally the people who believe in them.
  • They can start before choosing a school; funds release once a school is selected.
  • A campaign can be public or private, whichever is right for the student's safety.
  • No loan, no interest, and nothing to pay back.
Start for your child

For parents

  • Start and run a campaign for your child, including at tuition-based pre-K through 12 schools.
  • A debt-free way to get help with tuition from family, friends, and your community.
  • Funds go to the school, in care of your child, toward the cost of attending.
  • Keep it public or private, whichever is right for your family.

A free, debt-free way for students to raise money for the cost of college, which you can share as one more option alongside scholarships and financial aid.

None. It is free to share and free for students to use, with nothing for your school to set up, host, or administer.

A student, or a parent on their behalf, creates a campaign for free with a title, goal, photo, story, and an end date. Our team reviews it before it goes public, and the student hears back within 48 hours.

When a campaign closes, the funds are released to the student's school, in care of the student, toward tuition and school-billed costs, once a school is selected. It never goes to the student as cash, and it is never a loan.

Supporters give securely through PayPal, with a $10 minimum gift. Lite Tuition keeps a flat 5% and PayPal charges its own processing fee, and a supporter can choose to cover both so the student receives the full gift.

Yes. Every campaign is reviewed by our team before it goes public, and a student can keep a campaign public or private, whichever is right for their safety.

Yes. A senior can start a campaign during application season, and the funds are released once they select their school, so they can raise while they decide.

Frame it as one piece of a funding plan: begin with scholarships and aid, then share Lite Tuition to help close the remaining gap. You can hand out or post our counselor and student guides.

Any student headed to higher education, from colleges and universities to trade and vocational programs. Parents can also start a campaign for a child at a tuition-based pre-K through 12 school.
